Howard Blomberg, owner of Handyman Helper LLC, has been in the helping his neighbor business full-time since 2014 and part-time since his high school years. (As a grandparent of 8, it has been a long time since he was in high school!) Handyman Helper LLC was incorporated in 2015 after the “thousand-year floods” here in the area proved that he could sustain himself with his hands. A former US Army Captain, seminary graduate, worker in non-profits for 17 years (10 years with Oliver Gospel Mission and 7 with Columbia International University), Howard started Handyman Helper LLC as a solo venture. However, after several projects proved that he could help more people and get more done faster with help, he expanded to the current team: his second born son, Aaron (he has 4!); a retired electrician, Bob; and a fellow veteran (of 25 years’ Combat Engineer service!), Francisco. Each member brings strengths and ideas. Howard especially likes challenging projects requiring creative solutions but tells his customers that he also does most things of the mundane things a homeowner might need done like changing a faucet or outlet. He thrives on unique projects like custom, built-in bookshelves or to major renovations like remodeling a bathroom. “It is a shorter list to tell them what we don’t do: yard work, appliance repair, roof work, large concrete projects, and stretching carpet. Other than that, we pretty much can serve as a one-stop shop. What we can’t do, we will help them find competent help.”
His vision is to help folks get what they want done, done. Chaulk full of ideas and experience, Howard brings a lot of experience to the table when he is working with his customers to make their vision a reality. Working with a wide range of budgets and within the confines of Lexington and Richland counties, Howard offers his clients a reliable way to make their dream a reality.
Howard has been married to Laura, his college sweetheart, for 45 years. They have 4 adult sons, two of whom are married and have a total of 8 grandchildren between the married sons. All 4 sons live within 2 hours of Lexington, where Laura and Howard have called home for 27 years. Laura is a summertime swimming instructor and otherwise full-time support system for Howard and family. They live in the light provided by Jesus, imperfectly attempting to reflect Him to their world, sharing the good news that everyone, literally everyone, is within the reach of Christ’s redemption though the free gift of salvation He made available to mankind.
